Jim and Becky Newman are veteran missionaries having served full-time in Grenada, West Indies from 1986 - 1997. Jim and Becky helped to plant the first independent Church of Christ/Christian Church in that nation. The work in Grenada is now led by Grenadian men, though Louis and Patsy Hall continue to make periodic trips to strengthen and encourage the church.
Jim and Becky are both graduates of Kentucky Christian University. Jim also earned his M.A. from Johnson Bible College concentrating on New Testament and Intercultural Studies. Jim has also studied at Abilene Christian University. Becky completed her B.A. in Primary Education at the University of Southern Queensland.
Jim and Becky have two sons, Daniel, a graduate of Johnson Bible College, who joined the work in September 2009 along with his wife, Samantha and Andrew who is a student at the University of Southern Queensland studying engineering and IT.
Jim held a youth ministry at the Greenfield, OH Church of Christ while in Bible College and has held preaching ministries at the Wakefield Christian Church, Taylorsville, KY and the West Union, OH Church of Christ.
In 2002, Jim and Becky began to raise support to work in Australia and for the first four years assisted in the work of an existing church in Toowoomba. In 2007, they left to plant the Eastern Downs Church of Christ.
The Newman's have incorporated their ministry in Australia under the name Australian Christian Training Ministries Pty. Ltd. and have registered the name Southern Cross Bible Institute to use with the training program that has recently started. The goal is to plant Australian Churches that are led by Australian men.
